Meet the Author

James O’Dea is a former military operations and intelligence professional whose career in national security gives him a rare, insider perspective on the world of clandestine operations. Drawing on decades of experience in the shadows of the global special operations community, he brings authenticity and precision to the secret war that runs just beneath the surface of everyday life.

O’Dea lives in Texas, where he balances the quiet rhythm of family life with the darker, more disciplined world he writes about. The Professor, his debut novel and the first book in the Omega Series, grew from that tension between ordinary life and extraordinary secrecy. He continues to explore the moral and psychological cost of living on the edge of the world’s most dangerous conflicts.

About the Omega Series

The Omega Series follows Colin Reid, a history professor whose quiet academic life conceals a far more dangerous role. When diplomacy fails and military action is politically impossible, Reid becomes the Tertia Optio — the Third Option — a covert operative called upon to solve problems that cannot be handled in public.

Across the series, his missions draw on intelligence, history, improvisation, and careful tradecraft rather than spectacle. But the deeper tension lies in the life he has built around the secrets he keeps. Each operation carries consequences, and every success makes it harder to keep the worlds of professor, husband, father, and operative from colliding.

Planned as a five-book series, the Omega stories explore the hidden decisions, moral compromises, and personal cost behind missions the public may never know occurred.
